Who is Old Yale Brewing?
Old Yale Brewing is thrilled to announce the opening of our third location in Beaumont, Alberta! This 11,000 sq ft, 400-seat Craft Brewery + Kitchen will feature a brand-new 7.5-hectoliter brewery, 3 patios, 20 beers on tap, plus a selection of wine, cider, and cocktails.
With this exciting expansion, we're looking for a Lead Brewer to join Team OYB and play a key role in preparing for our grand opening! As the Lead Brewer in Beaumont, you’ll oversee all aspects of beer production and the day-to-day operations of the brewery. Flexibility is essential, as you’ll take on a wide range of tasks—from purchasing decisions and vendor relations to setting production goals and creating new brews. During slower periods, you’ll also lend a hand with other brewery or restaurant duties, keeping the whole operation running smoothly. This role requires high attention to detail, quick decision-making, and a strong commitment to safety and quality standards.
Please note that this position will require travel to Chilliwack, BC for training purposes.
Responsibilities
+ Complete all functions of the production for high-quality beer which includes but is not limited to brewing, clarifying, quality control, packaging, equipment maintenance, cleaning, and many other respective tasks necessary for successful operation.
+ Ensure all brewing procedures and policies are met.
+ Responsible for sanitation of the brewhouse and all brewery-related areas and equipment. Ensure all food safety and safety standards and regulatory compliances are met. Following standards, procedures and protocols for brewing; testing to ensure these standards are maintained; implementing detailed cleaning regiments; following maintenance programs and safety schedules and protocols
+ Follow and improve standards, procedures, and protocols for brewing; testing to ensure these standards are always maintained.
+ Maintain the highest levels of quality control by ensuring all products are within specifications.
+ Assist with maintenance of production and equipment manuals and maintain production records and process control systems (EKOS)
+ Responsible for draught system cleaning and regular maintenance.
+ Work closely with the Finance team to ensure that this data is entered in a timely and accurate fashion.
+ Work with the Brew Master to develop new beer recipes; source and order ingredients and inventory; plan beer production to meet sales demand; ensure quality and consistency of the beer is upheld.
+ Aid with the forecasting, purchasing of raw materials, as well as production planning and scheduling.
+ Assist with events, customer service, and marketing of the brewery on an as-needed basis.
+ Maintain technical knowledge by learning about products and trends, reading industry publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in industry trade shows.
+ Provide a timely update on process and formulation, equipment, material utilization, etc. to Brewmaster.

Qualifications
+ Minimum 2-3 years of direct experience in commercial brewing beer.
+ Formal Education preferred.
+ Must possess the technical skills to work with commercial brewing equipment, understanding of safety and food safety standards and government regulations.
+ Mechanically inclined; intuitively able to see how things work on a large and small scale, and able to adept at fixing items.
+ Must have an in-depth knowledge of beer science and practical skills.
+ Strong problem-solving skills
+ Can go above and beyond when it comes to organization, time management, and multiple competing priorities while maintaining a keen eye for detail.
+ A willingness to roll up your sleeves at any time to help and get the job done regardless of your title, role, or duties.
+ ProServe Certified or willing to obtain certification.
Physical Requirements
+ Must be able to physically perform and carry out duties such as:
o Climbing stairs
o Lifting and moving up to 140lbs worth of product
o Reach over shoulders
o Able to stand for long periods of time during a shift

Compensation
